Av: Serie: VTI konferensUtgivningsinformation: Statens väg- och transportforskningsinstitut. VTI konferens, 2001Beskrivning: nr 18A:1, 4 sÄmnen: Bibl.nr: VTI P7000:18A:1Location: Abstrakt: The quality of the environment, the social context and road safety are closely linked. The overall perception (landscape, aesthetics) influences ethologically determined, constant behavior patterns (types of driving) and cultural backgrounds (mental representations) to induce the driver to adjust his behavior (identification, understanding, appropriation, anticipation). Environmental quality, particularly landscape quality, is thus closely co-related with road safety. The author deals only with his experience in France, and with the innovative approaches developed in the last few years, which led to a new approach in the design of facilities. This new approach was developed in order to account for the actual behavior of various uses, and to modify the facilities so that they are better suited to the constraints and realities of driving situations.
