The repairs were mainly carried out in the traditional way. Preventive repairs were mainly carried out by means of surface protection of exposed concrete. In a few cases, cathodic protection was the repair method used. Its use was primarily experimental. This state-of-the-art report presents the Danish Road Directorates experience with cathodic protection up to the year 2002. The objective of the project has been to evaluate the Danish Road Directorates cathodic protection installations, including - capability of stopping ongoing corrosio, - capability of preventing corrosio, - service lifetime on the basis of experienc, - technical and economical alternative to other repair method. The type, dimensioning and operational parameters, installation and operational costs and installation details of the established cathodic protection systems are described.
