Pilot study of train drivers' eye movements Groeger, John A et al

By: Publication details: London Railway Safety, [2002?]; Railway Safety Research Programme, Description: 1 CD 65 s. CDSubject(s): Bibl.nr: VTI 2003.0730Location: Notes: På omslaget: Human performance Abstract: This report contains two parts. One part is a report, commissioned by Railway Safety, and prepared by the University of Surrey. The research was to assess the feasibility of using eye-movement recording as a way of analysing how train drivers look at signals as they approach them. This included consideration of the length of time and frequency that drivers spend looking at signals, how often they look elsewhere and the factors that can affect these variables. The information and analysis to be gained from such an approach should help to inform signal sighting standards and procedures, and good driving practice. The other part's purpose is to outline Railway Safety's response to the report by the University of Surrey. This part also summarises the actions being taken by Railway Safety.
