This equipment opens new possibilities for the enlargement of existing tunnels while maintaining traffic flow. The work can be done safely and economically even under the most difficult soil conditions. Two new tunneling techniques for the full-face excavation of galleries under difficult ground conditions and one new technique for cut-and-cover tunnel excavation are described.
