  • 8791177235
Subject(s): Online resources: Bibl.nr: VTI P0031:127Location: Abstract: One of the four seminars at the 75th jubilee of the Danish Road Institute addresses the work of the Institute within the field of “Knowledge about the construction of roads”. Several contributions describe that there are soon to come changes. As an example, the Danish Road Standards must be adjusted as a result of European directives, road materials must be CE-marked and test methods for road materials must be changed. As a result of new technology, there will undoubtedly be changes in the field of quality control of road materials in situ. There is increased focus on other types of road pavements than the traditional, including long-life cement stabilised pavements. An important aim is to reduce the inconvenience for the users, since long-life pavements do not require maintenance so frequently. The co-operation between the Danish Road Institute and other institutions in Europe is described. Geotechnical investigations are of great importance for the optimisation of major road constructions. Reuse of road materials and recycling of non-road by-products in the road sector have reached a high level, which will be maintained.
