Fatigue was induced through sleep deprivation and through a 90-minute simulator drive. Mental workload was manipulated through driving task load and ATIS complexity. Although the results indicated degraded driving performance under the sleep-deprived condition, performance on ATIS-related tasks was not affected by sleep deprivation. The implication of this and other results are detailed.
