Intelligent transportation systems for operation of roadway segments in high-wind conditions Young, Rhonda Kae ; Liesman, Joel
Series: ; 2000Publication details: Transportation research record, 2007Description: s. 1-7Subject(s): Bibl.nr: VTI P8167:2000Location: Abstract: Truck safety in high-wind conditions-in particular, the use of intelligent transportation system technology for operating roadway segments during high-wind conditions-is examined. The frequent high-wind conditions in Wyoming cause trucks to overturn and often lead to the closure of a road, resulting in delays, economic impact, and a loss of system reliability. This paper addresses how critical weather conditions can be identified; what the various levels of operations can be, depending on these conditions; the means for identifying at-risk vehicles; and the benefits of implementing an advanced system for operating these high-hazard roadway segments.Current library | Status | |
