Air and rail competition and complementarity : case study report. Final revised report Dionori, Francesco et al
Publication details: London Steer Davies Gleave, 2006Description: 146 sSubject(s): Online resources: Abstract: As part of our study into competition and complementarity of air and rail transport, we have undertaken case studies of eight European routes. The objective of the case studies was to understand the main factors driving the market share of rail operators, classic airlines and low cost airlines on each route. The case studies were based on research from a number of (mostly public) sources. We also interviewed a number of operators, in order to obtain data where this was not available publicly, and to discuss the key factors which they believed influenced market share. This report should be read as a supplement to the main report for the study, which includes a summary of the key conclusions from the case studies. It includes each case study and explains why we selected the routes that we did for the case studies. As part of our study into competition and complementarity of air and rail transport, we have undertaken case studies of eight European routes.
