The aim of the project was to study the prerequisites for the introduction and the operations of a diesel-electric hybrid locomotive for terminal and shunting yard work, for industrial track, within terminals and railway station areas and, to a limited extent, for main line operations in Sweden. An additional aim was to design and evaluate a prototype, together with STT (Swedish Train Technology), which was to be rebuilt from an older diesel-electric T43 locomotive.
