Subject(s): Online resources: Notes: Övers. av: Hälsokonsekvensbedömning av ett vägtrafikprojekt Abstract: According to the Swedish Government, all political decisions shall be formulated so as to take their long-term social, environmental and economic impact into consideration. The Swedish National Institute of Public Health (SNIPH) sees health impact assessments (HIA) as an excellent tool in order to highlight how decisions contribute to the attainment of social sustainability. This case study, which concerns a road traffic project, shows how an HIA can supplement an environmental impact assessment (EIA) in order to bring both environmental and social sustainability to the fore. The case study follows the general HIA guidance as published by SNIPH. The report is intended for administrators with investigative responsibilities at central agencies, county councils, county administrative boards and municipalities. It shows how an HIA can provide new valuable arguments during decision-making and how it can be performed without demanding excessive resources.
