This information, called HD Traffic¢â€žÂ¢, is made available by way of personal navigation devices (PNDs), internet and the media. HD Traffic has been developed by fusing four data sources, achieving new levels of coverage and quality. New, connected devices have also been developed to make the use of the improved navigation easy. The paper describes the data used, the data fusion process, traffic data validation and the means of providing the data to the end users. The applications developed by TomTom to provide this traffic information by way of channels other than connected navigation devices are also described.
