The French motorway operator Autoroutes du Sud de la France (ASF), on the basis of a carbon audit of its activities, has analyzed the "carbon issue" of some traffic control, information or toll organization measures, based on intelligent transportation systems (ITS). Some cases are described within this article with their CO2 potential impact: reducing congestion by smothering traffic flow, suppressing stop and goes on toll plazas, and information to promote eco-friendly driving.
