Advanced Mathematical Models as Simulated Traffic Data Collectors Benhammou, Daniel

By: Publication details: Bryssel ITS in daily life: 16th world congress and exhibition on intelligent transport systems and services, Stockholm 21-25 September 2009. Paper, 2009Description: 4 sSubject(s): Bibl.nr: VTI P1835:16 [World]Location: Abstract: The following paper describes the feasibility of integrating virtual traffic analysis sensors into existing sensor infrastructure. Mathematical models based on live traffic sensors facilitate the creation of a new set of data collection monitors. This technology compliments existing vehicle sensors such as radar, microwave, and video, resulting in affordably increased data resolution and highly accurate predictions of travel time. These virtual traffic monitor sensors also calculate the predicted estimated variance (PEV), allowing a quantitative metric regarding data quality.
