Currently the software is deployed across the State in a number of TMCs. Each of these TMCs manages events using video cameras, Dynamic Message Signs (DMSs), detectors, Highway Advisory Radios (HARs) and Road Rangers (vehicles that are deployed to assist motorists and to assist in managing events). Each center collects traffic conditions data based on a variety of sensor technologies and travel times are computed based on the traffic conditions data. SunGuide was designed and implemented to be highly modular and allow different TMCs to effectively exchange data. The software allows data to be exchanged using a standards based Center-to-Center (C2C) infrastructure so that a TMC may engage the assets of other TMCs as well as provide traffic information so that regional (or statewide) web sites can be used to disseminate information.
