Simulation-Based ITS Test Platform for Traffic Management and Control System Research and Development Christensson, Stefan ; Archer, Jeffery

By: Contributor(s): Publication details: Bryssel ITS in daily life: 16th world congress and exhibition on intelligent transport systems and services, Stockholm 21-25 September 2009. Paper, 2009Description: 8 sSubject(s): Bibl.nr: VTI P1835:16 [World]Location: Abstract: A cooperative project between the Swedish Road Administration (project sponsors), the Royal Institute of Technology and SWECO was established for the development of a simulation-based intelligent transportation system (ITS) test platform. At present, the test platform incorporates and emulates many of the logic components implemented in the Stockholm Motorway Control System (MCS). The test platform aims to provide a toolbox of ITS-functions that can be configured and tested in a safe traffic simulation environment to evaluate the impact of different scenarios and control strategies. This paper discusses general aspects of the research project as well as the technical development of the test platform.
