The drives in the late decade have been mainly influenced by the introduction of new light sources (lamps). New technologies well known to households such as dimming device, timers and low energy lamps have not entered the street lighting business until quite recently. The possibility to use the power line as a communication bus will make is possible to control and dim the luminaries to save energy.
