The INTRO (Intelligent Roads) project aims at demonstrating how safety, road capacity, road operation and maintenance problems can be improved or simplified by the use of existing and future sensor-, communication- and processing technologies in a harmonized way, to create and add "intelligence" to road networks. INTRO is financed from the 6th Framework Program of the European Commission (Directorate-General for Research) and conducted by ten partners1. The project started in March 2005 and has now been finalized in February 2008.
