Like for other big events, particularly previous expos, transport will play a crucial role in making the EXPO a success. The event is expected to attract 70 million visitors in total and 400,000 visitors per day. Transport is a huge challenge for the Shanghai local authority since Shanghai is one of the most crowded and congested cities in the world. With the master plan for the EXPO site having been completed, various transport measures are proposed in order to provide good mobility services to EXPO visitors and minimize the burden on the road network caused by the EXPO. Theses measures include temporary special buses, Park & Ride (P&R), ferried, dynamic route guidance etc. This paper summarizes the current transport planning for the event, analyze needs for ITS and identifies opportunities for ITS service providers.Current library | Status | |
