Speed checks which measure the actual speed at specific points are commonly implemented in most countries in the world. In the last years, automatic time-over-distance checks have been introduced in several countries, which are measuring the average speed of a vehicle over a defined section. In Europe, time-over-distance systems already exist in Italy, Austria, Holland as well as in the United Kingdom (UK).
