Paper, 2009Description: 8 sSubject(s): Bibl.nr: VTI P1835:16 [World]Location: Abstract: This paper demonstrates the concept of how a real-time route planning system, which considers simultaneously real-time traffic and air pollution conditions, would work when high resolution traffic and pollution data become available. The system enables road users, including cyclists and pedestrians, to find routes according to their preferences, whether to minimize distance, travel time, exposure to air pollution or a combination of measures. The system also provides information about the existence of air pollution ¢â‚¬Ëœhotspots' along the route and an option to find an optimal route that avoids these hotspots. A case study using the system has allowed assessment of the impact of considering pollution on the length and duration of selected routes, alongside potential for further system development.Current library | Status | |
