Slip Based Real Time Road Friction Estimation for Heavy Duty Vehicles Andersson, Jon ; Forsgard, Magnus

By: Contributor(s): Publication details: Bryssel ITS in daily life: 16th world congress and exhibition on intelligent transport systems and services, Stockholm 21-25 September 2009. Paper, 2009Description: 5 sSubject(s): Bibl.nr: VTI P1835:16 [World]Location: Abstract: In this paper an implementation of the slip based road friction estimation method is described. The purpose of this implementation is to obtain real-time classification of the prevalent road friction coefficient. A real-time system using a linear regression model and a Kalman filter is implemented. Test runs show that the vehicle model and the algorithms are robust and can provide accurate classifications of current coefficient of friction.
