Safety Performance Evaluation of a VII Driving Assistance System using a Microscopic Traffic Simulator Takatori, Yusuke ; Yashima, Hiroyuki

By: Contributor(s): Publication details: Bryssel ITS in daily life: 16th world congress and exhibition on intelligent transport systems and services, Stockholm 21-25 September 2009. Paper, 2009Description: 12 sSubject(s): Bibl.nr: VTI P1835:16 [World]Location: Abstract: In this study, the safety performance of a VII driving assistance system has been evaluated using a microscopic traffic simulator. A VII driving assistance system model (collision warning) is implemented for a microscopic traffic simulator. Then, its safety performance is evaluated with respect to its penetration rate. The safety performance of the VII system is compared to that of a sensor-based autonomous system and an inter-vehicle communication-based vehicle cooperative system. Then, it has been proved that the safety performance of a VII system is superior to other systems.
