Publication details: Bryssel ITS in daily life: 16th world congress and exhibition on intelligent transport systems and services, Stockholm 21-25 September 2009. Paper, 2009Description: 8 sSubject(s): Bibl.nr: VTI P1835:16 [World]Location: Abstract: Traffic engineering is a branch of Transportation Engineering which discuses planning, geometric design and traffic operations of roadways, streets and highways, transport networks and terminals and the relationship between various transport systems. One of the major fields of traffic engineering is studying of traffic volume, traffic flow, delays, speed and other important traffic engineering parameters through which short and long term planning could be performed. Data collection from traffic counting systems has been done offline so far in Iran and the experts used to visit these field equipments in specific intervals and extract gathered information and send them to the Control Center. In this paper a new plan for online and real-time data collection and transfer from traffic counter devices to control center which has been tested in Iran and also a GIS based system which can demonstrate the online traffic flow on a map are discussed.Current library | Status | |
