This survey showed that with the exception of airbags and ABS there was limited understanding and knowledge of both in-vehicle and on-road ITS initiatives. The survey further found that the penetration of in-car ITS technology with the exception of front airbags and ABS was extremely low. A paper entitled "ITS Innovations in Transport - What is the Community's view?" was presented to the 15th World ITS Congress in New York.
