Improving Performance of Inter-Vehicle Communication using LMS Adaptive Array Antenna Yamamoto, Ken ; Ohno, Kohei ; Itami, Makoto

By: Contributor(s): Publication details: Bryssel ITS in daily life: 16th world congress and exhibition on intelligent transport systems and services, Stockholm 21-25 September 2009. Paper, 2009Description: 8 sSubject(s): Bibl.nr: VTI P1835:16 [World]Location: Abstract: In this paper, LMS (Least Mean Square) adaptive array antenna is applied to IVC (Inter-Vehicle Communication) in order to reduce interference which is caused by surrounding vehicles. The LMS adaptive array antenna has a characteristic that the control of directivity is possible according to surrounding radio wave condition, if the receiving vehicle knows the information of the target vehicle. In this paper, the scheme to determine directivity of the array antenna is proposed and packet error rate characteristic and throughput of the IVC system using the proposed scheme are shown by comparing with the IVC system using omni-directional antenna.
