By: Language: Swedish Language: English Series: SIKA statistik ; 2008:11Publication details: Östersund Statens institut för kommunikationsanalys, SIKA, 2008Description: 31 sOther title:
  • Swedish vessels and foreign vessels chartered from abroad, 2007
Subject(s): Online resources: Abstract: The Swedish flagged fleet amounted to 495 vessels in 2007. This is for vessels of 100 gt and above. The net growth of the fleet was 10 vessels over 2006 as a result of 22 new registered and 12 deregistered ships. In numbers the fleet is dominated by passenger vessels, but in gross tonnes the dry cargo sector is dominating. The average age of the Swedish flagged fleet is high, reaching 25.7 years. Dry cargo ships are the eldest with 30.8 years. This is due to the numerous smaller vessels that are very old. The replacement rate is low in smaller segments. This is not unique for Sweden. Over the past few years the average age of the Swedish fleet has been falling.
