Online resources: Abstract: The aim is to develop and test techniques that can be used to enforce the use of low sulfur fuel within the shipping industry by efficient compliance monitoring, according to new environmental regulation within the international maritime organization (IMO) and EU. The objective with the enforcement is to promote a level playing field in the shipping industry making it possible to invest in new technology. We have therefore developed and conducted field tests of new measurement instrumentation that in the future can be used for cost effective surveillance of ship emissions of SO2 and NOx.
