AVL Motortestcenter AB (AVL) has on commission by the Swedish Transport Administration tested three wheel loaders of emission standards Stage IIIA (Volvo L220F), Stage IIIB (Volvo L220G) and Stage IV (Volvo L220H) with Portable Emissions Measurement Equipment (PEMS). Regulated emissions (for engines); carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (THC), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate mass (PM) as well as fuel consumption (FC) and CO2 were measured. The test location was a gravel-pit managed by Skanska and located near Eskilstuna. The machines were tested, operated by their everyday drivers, in daily use which consists of moving gravel around the pit. For each machine two tests were performed and evaluated both as whole test and according to the averaging window principle based on work and CO2 mass emissions, as proposed for In-Service Conformity Procedure for Nonroad Mobile Machinery in EU.
