Exploring roundabout safety in the context of time series : case study with state of Pennsylvania

Original rotary designs, especially in the state of New Jersey in the early 1900s, have contributed to the development of negative opinions regarding the corresponding intersection control type in the region. Thus, the implementation of roundabouts has only increased significantly in recent years. The objectives of this study are to evaluate current applications of roundabouts in the state of Pennsylvania (PA) and to determine the extent of roundabouts conversion safety effectiveness based on crash severity level, crash type as well as crash cost.
