För förare och passagerare av motorfordon har trafikmiljön på senare tid blivit allt säkrare, med ett sjunkande antal dödade och svårt skadade per antalet invånare. För cyklister ser man dock inte samma utveckling. Detta kan vara ett tecken på att det inte räcker att förbättra trafikmiljön för en trafikantgrupp, då det inte nödvändigtvis blir bättre för alla. Inom ramen för ADVanCE (Attention of DriVers and Cyclists in the same Environment) undersökte vi i vilka avseenden trafikmiljön skiljer sig för cyklister och bilister utifrån olika aspekter. Tre korsningar med olika företrädesregler undersöktes med avseende på vilka uppmärksamhetskrav som ställs på trafikanterna. Det genomfördes en semi-kontrollerad fältstudie med 23 försökspersoner som både körde bil och cyklade samma 6 km långa sträcka, där de tre korsningarna ingick.

Over the past years, the traffic environment has become safer for drivers and passengers of motorised vehicles, with declining rates of fatalities and severe injuries per capita. This is assumed to be the result of systematic improvements in the traffic environment. However, the development for cyclists is not the same – the number of fatalities in Sweden did not decline. This can be a sign that it is not sufficient to improve the traffic environment for just one road user group. Within the ADVanCE-project (Attention of DriVers and Cyclists in the same Environment), we investigated in which way the same traffic environment differs for cyclists and car drivers for a range of aspects. Three intersections with different rules for right of way were investigated with respect to the attentional demands on the two road user types. We conducted a semi-controlled field study with 23 participants, who both drove a car and cycled along the same 6 km long route, which included the three intersections.
