Methodology for wheel wear simulations, RCF and equivalent conicity
Publication details: [Borlänge] : Trafikverket, 2024Description: 13 sSubject(s): Online resources: Abstract: In order to be able to select good initial profiles for wheels and rails, it is crucial to know how wear and plastic deformations change the profiles of the wheels and rails during their degradation. There are many parameters that control how the wheel and rail are worn. To increase the knowledge regarding this question, a wear prediction loop has been created. The current paper describes how this wear prediction loop works. Plastic deformations have not been taking into consideration, we believe they are smaller than the wear. The method follows the changes of the wheel profiles from a new and unworn state, down to a state where they need reprofiling. In order to be able to select good initial profiles for wheels and rails, it is crucial to know how wear and plastic deformations change the profiles of the wheels and rails during their degradation.
